Colorburst 2011 cool and windy

I attended Colorburst 2011 near Lowell last Saturday morning (Oct. 15). I had originally signed up for the 30 mile tour, but with temperatures near 48 degrees with winds around 20 mph, I opted for the 17 mile route. Breakfast was excellent as usual. I rode alone this year, so that also contributed to the short route. I really need to find a group near Grand Haven that likes to do these rides ...

North Bank Trail Dedication

They had a very nice trail dedication last Monday, Oct. 10. There were lots of speakers from the various organizations responsible for financing the construction and providing support for Phase I of the North Bank Trail in Spring Lake, MI. The Spring Lake High School marching band was there and played the National Anthem. I had to leave early due to another meeting, but many of the attendees got to walk and ride the trail east to about 130th St.

North Bank Trail Photos

Here are some photos of NEW sections of the North Bank Trail near Spring Lake, MI. The trailhead with parking (top photo) is near 144th Ave. The bridge in the last photo is at the current end of the trail, somewhere near 130th Ave. I wish that there were street markers where the trail crosses the major streets! I knew approximately where I was but if I had planned to get off the trail to cycle north or south, it would be nice to know which street to exit onto. The tree colors were very bright! I think that next weekend will be the best, though.
